Four new radio stations now available

August 20th, 2008

We’re proud to announce the launch of four more stations on the Stripe platform! This brings us up to twenty-four great radio experiences for your 3G mobile and broadband listening.

Newly released are:

Hot Mix. Not too hard, not too soft, just stand out tracks from the Superstars of Rock and Pop. The world’s hottest hits from the 80s til now.

Naked. Your favourite artists live, raw and laid bare!

Disco Fever. You should be dancing! Burn up the floor with the ultimate disco mix.

Party Hits. The party never stops on Party Hits! All the big party tracks from the 90s til today with some hand-picked 80s classics for the ultimate party mix.

They are all available now in your Stripe broadband radio, and on the mobile Stripe site.

New radio version launched

August 18th, 2008

We’re happy to announce that the new Stripe Radio has been released for all listeners. It addresses a number of bugs and provides some additional functionality.

As you can see below, the look and feel has been enhanced:

New Stripe Radio for broadband listening.

New Stripe Radio for broadband listening.

You will get an “On Air” light, and a buffer level indication graphic, in the bottom right of the window. The minimise/maximise button in the top right provides a way to have a smaller player, using less screen real estate.

…we hope you enjoy the great sound of Stripe!

The switch-with-a-glitch

July 21st, 2008

We hit a little bit of a rocky road this weekend, when one of our datacentre switches began to display some pretty abnormal behaviour. Staying out late at night, not telling us where it was going, that type of thing. ;-)

It’s now been swapped out, so hopefully the minor issues experienced at the weekend have been banished. Thanks to all for your consideration.

iPhone support

July 18th, 2008

As many early testers have realised, Stripe is currently not supported on iPhone. And we’re sorry, but we can’t make any specific response regarding future support of that handset.

The iPhone 3G was only made available to Australian consumers on 11 July 2008, and developers have had extremely limited access to development resources.

It’s probably not the support statement you were hoping for: but we hope that as early testers, you all have the opportunity to experience Stripe on another 3G handset.

Music licensing press coverage

July 14th, 2008

Stripe radio has been covered in a subarticle in today’s Australian Financial Review. Neil Shoebridge writes, in the opening paragraph:

Over the past year Glenn Wheatley’s new business Stripe has signed licensing deals with music companies Sony BMG, Warner Music, EMI, Universal and Shock Records, plus smaller specialised firms such as Ministry of Sound and Central Station.

You can read the full article here. Our Program Director, Jarrod Graetz, has been working hard on building a fantastic music strategy for Stripe and all our stations.
